Engineering education is constantly evolving to embrace the latest technological developments and meet the changing needs of the engineering industry. Currently, employers do not only look for technical skills in fresh graduates, but they demand engineers having emotional intelligence and high-level communication. Also, emergence of generative artificial intelligence technology, such as the ChatGPT and post-pandemic culture of remote working have added a new dimension to all disciplines including engineering. In these contexts, the 3rd International Conference on Advancements in Engineering Education, Sydney, 2024 (iCAEED-2024) will bring national and international engineering educators and industry experts to share their experience and views on emerging aspects of engineering education. iCAEED-2024 will be jointly organised by School of Engineering, Design and Built Environment, Western Sydney University, Global Circle for Scientific, Technological and Management Research (GCSTMR) as its 7th World Congress, INRS Canada, The University of Naples, Italy and Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) Bangladesh.
Since Western Sydney University (WSU) has been ranked #1 globally in 2022 and 2023 by The Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Ranking, WSU is in a unique position to host such a conference to promote sustainability across all spheres of life including engineering education. Engineering education needs to be revamped based on sustainability concepts so that engineers assist greatly to build a more sustainable world for us and our future generations.
iCAEED-2024 will be held at Western Sydney Universitys Penrith campus, which is well connected by rail and road with Sydney CBD. The traditional landmarks of Sydney including Sydney Harbour, Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge are within easy reach of the conference venue as is the Blue Mountains World Heritage National Park.
iCAEED-2024 will feature keynote addresses by senior engineering academics and industry experts. All the abstracts and full papers submitted to iCAEED-2024 will be refereed by two independent reviewers and if accepted will be published in the conference proceedings with Australian ISBN number. An edited book will be published (Springer) based on selected papers (subject to upgrade by authors and acceptance by the editors).
